Financial Advisory Service

The Griffin Black Financial Advisory Service is designed to provide clients with an integrated approach to both their financial planning and investment management needs for a simple annual fee. It enables clients to access most or all of the services they will want without worrying about being 'nickel-and-dimed'.

Financial Planning Service

.

The Griffin Black Financial Planning Service seeks to support clients through a thoughtful (re-)organization of their financial lives.  It entails the following steps:

  • Taking stock of where they currently are.
  • Discovering and deciding where they want to be.
  • Creating a plan to get them there.
  • Implementing the plan.
  • Monitoring the plan to make sure it is working.
  • Making adjustments & improvements to the plan over time.

Each of these steps represents an active collaboration between client and advisor. The complete cycle may take as much as a year (or longer), depending on the client’s availability and complexity. Once a workable framework is established, client and advisor work together to implement the agreed-upon plan.

Investment Management Service

.

Most clients want a comprehensive approach to managing their financial affairs. In some cases, however, standalone investment management is appropriate. In such cases, Griffin Black works with the client to establish an appropriate Investment Policy, manages the client's portfolio according to the framework established in the Policy, and then meets regularly with the client to review and adjust the investment program as appropriate.

Client-Specific Projects

Individuals may also wish to tackle one specific question or address a short-term issue. In these cases Griffin Black advisors can define and carry out a unique project on a limited-term basis.

Our Compensation

.

How we are paid depends on the kind of work we do. For Financial Advisory Service and Financial Planning Service clients we establish a yearly retainer based on several factors, such as net worth and financial complexity. This retainer approach makes a bundle of services available on an as-needed basis. Our minimum annual retainer is $5,000, though it may be considerably higher depending on the factors cited above.

The Griffin Black Investment Management Service is priced on the basis of the assets under management (AUM). The minimum total portfolio size is $500,000. Please contact us for specifics.

Client-specific projects can be performed either on an hourly basis or as a fixed-price job. Our hourly fees range from $150 - $250 per hour. Our ability to quote a fixed price depends on the nature and potential complexity of the request. If you have a project in mind, please contact us to discuss it.
